Default is there a way to quite my engine?

my engine is pretty noisey. not like broken niosey but you can definately hear it pretty loud. there is a tiny faint ticking noise also. not a big problem everything is running fine. what additive or fluid or something can i add to quite my engine if anything?

most likely the noises you hear are the lifters, get a valve adjustment...but if you cant spare that kind of cash add some top-brand oil like pennzoil...theres even a thick oil stabilizer additive made by lucas, try that...

he said that the ticking noise was very faint, so i dont think that is the noise he is talking about. i think he is looking for somthing to insulate the regular engine sound....you know the vrooom. hehe

you need a set of these (angled ones are preferred):
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...04000

-a 12mm wrench
-a flathead
-1/2" socket wrench and 19mm socket

theres plenty of threads on how to do a valve adjustment. it's pretty easy, just take your time. it took me about an hour the first time i did it. you'll probobly notice a gain on the butt dyno after you're done.

pennzoil is definately not the best lube out there, try something like amsoil or redline. they are some of the best out there. a bit expensive tho. and besides the ticking, what other sounds is your motor making?

uhh besides that it seems to be ok. it just hit 100,000 but it always sounded like this. i mean i want to hear the intake and the exhaust...not the engine itself you know. it sounds like there is a constant exhaust leak but theres not cuz i just got that fixed finally when my new exhaust went on. i just changed my oil and used the mobil 7,500 oil. so its good quality.

there isnt much you can do about that. i mean i think there is insalation that you can put on the underside or the hood, that would prolly help, other than that i think your stuck with it......i only hear my intake right when i get on it, as soon as the engine revs up all i hear is motor and exhaust, i think thats pretty normal, but then again i havent heard your motor.
