Only the dyno knows for sure...BUT everything I read says pick a pack with a perforated core - and NOT a stamped louvred core.

I use a Cherry Bomb muffler, not a Cherry Bomb (red tube) but an actual muffler made by Cherry Bomb. It's got a 2.5" inlet and outlet and costs 40$CAD, so it must be even less in the USA.
Dynomax "Super Turbo" mufflers dyno well on GM Twincams. Definitely cheap.

I'm 99% sure all the 'el cheapo red cherry bombs are perforated and not louvered. Just about all your corner auto parts joints sell them for about $20 in various lengths and diameters. Doesn't get much cheaper than that.
