a/c control panel and defrost
a couple of years ago the a/c quit in my 89 prelude. shortly thereafter the panel with the a/c buton and all the other vent controls quit working. actually when you push the a/c button the aux. fan comes on so that switch is probably o.k. however you cannot select anything as far as where the air blows, when it broke it was on the dash vents and that's where it has been ever since. so that means no defrost in the winter. which brings me to the defrost issue. even when it did work it was horrible as in just roll the damn windows down. and yes that sucks in the winter, and yes that sucks when it rains and the windows fog up. this is the second honda i've had with nearly non-functional defrost, even when the a/c worked and you used it in defrost mode it was still pretty bad.is there a better blower motor i can get or is this just the price of driving one of the best cars made?
this brings me to an issue i have also. my 92 prelude won't switch off anything but defrost. what coudl be the issue here? the lights on the control panel buttons don't come on so could there be a connection problem? i'm going to dig in tomorrow so help soon woudl be great. thanks. sorry to hijack
The cuircuit board is inside the climate control. You have to take it apart to get at the board.
On the circuit board there is the green plug. On the other side of the green plug there are a bunch of soldered connection points. Those are the ones that need to be resoldered. Check them closely for cracks and you'll see what I mean. Just Resolder them and check again to make sure there are no hairline cracks in the solder and it should work.
This is for 4th gens btw.

just a heads up, getting the climate control unit itself apart is a bitch.
There's a bunch of little clips going around the edge, then once you've gotten the faceplate off, all the buttons are barely connected with a little hook on a spring, and they move around a lot, so when you're putting it back together it's hard to line up all the buttons with their holes
you'll see what I mean
good luck
I took mine apart a couple weeks ago, but my dad (electrician/computer guy) said all the solder points were good
