Default went to autozone today.....

So I went to autozone today just lookin around for a battery and I was lookin at the K&N air filters and this guy that works there comes up to me and tells me the funniest thing. He says you know I wouldnt get one of those for an Integra, you will be running lean you will lose 10 hp. He said in order for it to gain horsepower I needed to get bigger injectors and re-map my ignition.

On a more serious note has anyone used the duralast batteries from autozone, if so what kind of feedback do you have on them?

my mom and dad use them sometimes.. They work pretty well, never gave them any problems..
I also remember reading somewhere on thisforum that some people use them and theyve been good to them so far, so theyd recomend them.

Ive never heard of losing 10 hp from putting a higher flow air filter into you'r car, or for it running lean for that matter just cause of a air filter...pfft, ok...

idk that kinda sounds sketchy to me. i could see you losing 10 hp if the filter was right next to the engine where heat damaged it.

does the airbox have any vacuum hoses? i had a jetta and replaced the airbox with a k&n filter and just left my vacuum hoses hanging underneath it. needless to say......the thing was slow anyway so i sold it and bought an integra.

Autozone batteries NO NO NO NO NO!!!!

I had one in my old Camry that had the 5-yr warranty deal, and a couple of months after the 5 years had passed, I tried to start the car and the battery exploded!!

I told this guy I knew who worked at AutoZone about it and he was like yeah AZ batteries have been known to explode.

not to be a dick but do you really think if a guy at autozone had a genuine clue about cars that he would be working there for 10 bucks an hour. hell no. he'd be in a shop making 3 times that. autozone only hires self proclaimed mechanics. they have little or no experience and think they know everything.

I worked for Advance Auto for 3 years, and we hired retired Techs, and Shop formans. I myself am a "self proclaimed" mechanic, and I am truthful about stuff, and know what I'm talking about, and am proudly ASE certified in parts knowledge. However I do admit that there are tons of people that work for these places that are ******' morons.

dude give yourself a little credit ase certifications are way more than a self proclaimed mechanic. and the guys im talking about are the ones who are 18-40 years old which is to young to retire so they work at auto zone. most times they are lacking enough brain cells to be a foreman at a shop from what ive experienced. another thing the guys that work at the zone in my town couldn't even spell foreman. im sure.

oh yeah dude and to answer your question duralast crap blows ive had one in my teg and if i dont drive the car every day it goes dead. even if i unhook it. its only 6 months old.

Thats what they are designed to do. Thats why there are tons of sensors on cars today, so that they can sense changes, and alter the fuel, timing, and igniton for each environment/situation at hand.

I quit Advance, I was a Second Assistant Manager, and they put one of the part time guys in my position, he's an idiot, he calls me at work (O'Reilly Auto Parts) to ask me questions. MY old store is falling apart. I don't plan on making this my career, but I love cars, and I get discounts on parts. Plus I'm 20 and make $11.00 so that will do me until i'm out of school. But yeah.. .there are a lot of morons
