and I think they found it already:

sorry for your friends loss...but it looks personal by what they did to the car after stripping it...most thieves wouldn't take the time.

I would think the classifieds would be the best place to post, and list every part that was taken, incase it's seen floating around somewhere for sale, maybe someone will give you a call.
I don't see how posting in every tech forum can help.
