HID projectors......what fits??
I bought my 8k HID kit before I knew anything about them. I don't want to ditch them because of all the positive comments I get. I do have a problem though. I have them in my stock halogen projectors (94 GSR). They are blinding other drivers and I'm not using the brightness to their full potential. I'm looking for some HID projectors to put in. What fits and how hard are they to install? What's needed? Are there install directions anywhere online I could use? Any help would be great and much obliged!
I have hella bi-xenon projectors in mine. Installation was very easy. They were pretty big though. I had to trim the plastic reflector in the front to make the opening bigger. But they work very well. The cutoff is very sharp and light output is very bright and very white even near the cutoff. They are only bluish when they're first warming up. Hi-beams are also very nice.
Here's a quick overview of what you have to do:
1: Heat headlights in oven and open them up
2: Take out the projector piece and cut off the projector with a dremel
3: Drill holes into the piece to fit your new hid projector on there at about the same place where the old projectors were
4: Tighten down the projector and put some threadlock on the nuts. (I double nutted mine as well)
5: Trim the opening of the plastic reflector if your projectors are larger than the old ones. You'll know if you have to do this when you try to put your headlight back together and the projector doesn't fit in the opening.
6: Heat up the headlights again and put it all back together

What are bi-xenons? I actually don't have a clue what I need! Can you explain in a little more detail?! Talk to me like I'm a ditzy blonde about this please!! LOL
I'm looking on ebay for what I need and with the right instructions, I'm sure I can figure out how to do it. Thanks for your help bro!

Bi-xenon's have a solenoid connected to the light shield that moves up and down. When the shield is down they work like low-beams. When the shield is up they work like high beams. Send me your emails and I'll email you some pics that might answer some of your questions.
G35/350Z Hid projectors are teh suck, their output isnt great.
In terms of what will fit, pretty much they all fit, it just depends on how much modification you want to do.
The easiest to do I believe is the E55 Bi-xenon AKA nissan maxima bi-xenon projectors.
Also, the A4 projectors are an easy fit as well.
The TSX, TL, and S2K projectors produce some of the best output and color (esp with the washer trick) , but they are expensive and harder to retrofit into your headlights.

If you want to stop blinding people, you need to ditch the blue lights. Goods HID headlights are around 4200K. The bluer the light, the more it will diffuse in the air, creating glare. Its the HID projector that creates the sparkle of color at the cutoff, but the light itself is pure white.
Also, HID bulbs that were rebased to be an HID kit will not work in regular HID projectors, since hte bulb itself was modified to fit a different application. You'll have to get both projectors and bulbs to do a proper retrofit. The ballasts should be able to be reused though.

My bulbs are actually purple, which is why I've gotten so many good comments on them. I'm not looking to get any other temp right now. So, there is no way I can keep the ones I have now and put in an HID projector that will fit the bulb??
nope, you have to get new bulbs for the new projectors because they use D2S (mostly likely) bulb. I used to have the HID kit plug and play like yours too and it was cool. I got many attention to it because it always look purple with white and from far away, you can see a blue ring around the light. But I got rid of it and did a retrofit which is much better. Anyway, you have to get a set of bulbs if you want to do a retrofit!
I did this retrofit and it has been one of my favorite, if not my favorite, non engine mod Ive done to my Teg. I used the E55 projectors, and they fit the best and are easiest. Contrary to what was said above, you dont need to cut off the old projector, that just unbolts. And to avoid having to cut the plastic reflector part ( I think thats what you were referring to above. ) You have to trim the actual headlight bracket to accomodate the new projector. Here is an awesome link to a faq I used to get the jist of what to do, although depending on which HID projector you plan to retrofit, the exact installation varies. http://skafia.com/itr/hid/
