lol do what u want, but i promise after beeing on some of thesse forums for a while, ull change ur ways.... http://www.7thgencivic.com is one of the best sites to go to for questions and mods for the 7thgen, and if u ever have any questions feel free to let us know, some people will hate, but some may help as well
good luck! and happy moding.

Best tip I can give you? Don't try to make it fast. Totally futile waste of money. Don't get me wrong, it's a good car and all, but does not respond to engine modifications. Stick with looks and handling mods...you'll be much happier in the long run.

Thanks for your advice. I just bought one last week and I was gonna ask the same question about mods.

7thgencivic.com does have a vast knowledge base and some of the people on there are very helpful. And to those that say dont bother with the D17 for boosting HP they are uninformed. There are many dynoing 250+ hp on a motor thats only been arounf for a few years, its making progress... Anything is possible with time and money!

That being said, let me qualify my previous comment. If you want tangible, significant increases in performance with bolt-ons, you will be wasting your time. If you want to build your engine for boost, then turbo it - which includes reworking your entire fuel system, running stand-alone engine management, and paying boo koo bucks to get it properly tuned - then by all means the D17 is capable of serious horsepower. For that matter, a three cylinder Metro is similarly capable, though it does also have a curb weight advantage. As you said, anything is possible if you throw enough money at it.

True, true! But it was the same thing with pretty much all other engines. Someone had to do the ground work and throw the money at it to prove it could be done. then enough people prove it can be done and the parts and know how to get it done becomes more comon

I see what you are saying. From my stand point, I bought my EM with the intention of modifying it. However, as I watched people at 7thgen consistently disappointed with N/A tuning, I realized that I could get an RSX-S, and make just as much power N/A as most of the turbo D17 guys for less money. So I resolved to stick it out for few years with my stock EM, and when the time comes I will go to as RSX. This makes more sense to me, but hey, to each their own.
