Nah man you can handle the 750. Just have control your wrist and throttle control. Wished I started on a 750 but I started on a 6. All my friends started on a 750 and no problem at all! Be safe and always wear gear!

I'm not a bike expert, but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me

You might want to invest in plastic sliders. I've seen a bike go down with metal frame sliders and they actually did more harm than good. It caught the pavement and flipped it up into the air. Instead of a low-side destroying one side of the bike it was all over the place. Plastic absorb the impact, and grind down while bringing the bike to a complete stop. I could be full of **** but this is the interpretation I had from the low-side I saw.
^^
sounds about right. The plastic and delrin will create less friction, it will slide more but the chances of it flipping or going end over end are lower.
Hopefully you dont have to use em though!

Yeah if you look on the Anniversary Edition GSX-R 750, they have delrin frame sliders that actually roll to keep the bike from flipping over. They look like little wheels basically.
I'm trying to find some just like those for my SV650, but I have not found any in black (or any color for that matter).
I think pretty much every bike needs a good set of sliders if you care about the frame and/or plastics, because even if you're the best rider in the world all it takes is some dumbass pulling out in front of you, coming over on you, etc.
Besides all of that excellent deal IMO. Also I wouldn't worry about not starting off with a 600cc or smaller bike. A lot of people here will pitch a hissy any time a noob posts that he wants to get a 650cc+ first bike because they think everyone is out to go as fast as possible.
I entertained the thought of getting a Honda 919 as my first bike, and most of the replies were telling me I wasn't smart for wanting a "liter bike" as my first ride. I ended up with a SV650 because it was a killer deal, but IMO I'd have been fine on the 919 too. I've ridden my pal's TL1000 and I didn't die instantly.

Congrats, and be safe man! Get a good jacket, gloves, and helmet, and if you can swing it, pants too. All I lack is some good sliding pants. It gets over 90 degrees here in GA, but I still wear my gear and pants/jeans because the old saying goes:
Sweat washes off, road rash doesn't.

You bought a 750 for your first bike? Not smart man, I hear noobs instantly explode when they try and ride anything bigger than a 600. If it hasn't happened yet, it will soon.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

750 isn't too big. Neither is a 600. I started out on a 2005 YZF-R6 and that is still quite fast enough for me. I am still learning every time I go out and ride! Just take it slow and know no matter how good you are or think you are, all it takes is some old lady pulling out of a drug store without looking and well you can picture the rest... so take it slow and pretty much ride like you are invisible and no one see's you!

If you take it easy you can start on any bike...and if u have common sence

LOL! I thought it was that the bike would instantly pull their arms from the sockets as soon as they cracked open the throttle, and they'll be left stranded without their arms and bike.
GL, ride safe.

Some Random Internet Loser: (Parents House, Idaho) Your so ****** stupid, your gonna die on that in like a day, shoulda started on something smaller like an 80cc like i did. Lo5er!
back on track, hella nice bike man. I was shootin for a gixxer750 also, but the insurance on my 05 R6 full coverage is $218 a year, for a 750 it was gonna be like $650 something a year. Hella nice though.
