i heard the exact same set up before and it sounded alot better than mine. i even have better headunit and better speakers. so it must be the amp is not tuned right. the base came out to be longer and kinda distracting instead of the clean solid heart bumping hits. is there like a site or forum specially for tunning the jl 500/1 amp? or has anybody had good experience with tunning ur amp that u wanna share? plz help TY!!

amp: jl 500/1
sub: 10" W7 in high output box(ported)
wires: best monster cables in the market
headunit: $250 pioneer with 3 preouts forgot what model..

also its in a coupe, same as the car i heard it in before.

 

well the main thing to keep in is to have your ears do the tuning meaning trial n error with the crossovers and eq's. btw check out the tutorial on the jl audio website...it has a good one for setting gains with a multimeter. good stuff
