Default Vtec Head on a ZC. Can it be done?

Alright alright, for many of you this may sound like a joke but im pretty much new to Hondas.
Is it possible to put a Vtec head on a ZC motor? Or is it just not possible in any way?

Hmm no **** eh, well shows how much I know
Id like to find a ZC cuz I dont think ill be able to afford a B16 or 20 on a highskool budget.
So say it would be possible to but a B16 head on a ZC DOHC?

b16 head wont fit on a dohc zc. if it did... I would have that setup :-) Pistons are spaced out differently on b's vs d's among other differences.

Find some cams... i thought i remembered hearing a LONG time ago the was a way to modify a b-series VTEC cam to work in a DOHC ZC... i don't have any ZC cams laying around, so i can't say for sure.

Just get some CRESPO cams for DOHC ZC. I was going to go with some stage 5's when I did my 2nd motor swap, but I ended up getting B16.

mang i love Mis information y0! LoL.

DOHC VTEC cams will not fit in a DOHC ZC. B18A/B cams will bolt in, but the distributor groove on the cam is not the same as the ZC's so timing will be off big time. Someone i know was sold stock B18A/B as regrinds from web cams. He got scammed By an ebay seller, coincidentally we had filed 3 fraudulent seller complaints over 1 yr ago and EBAYMotors did nothing!

Your only choice on cams if you decide to get the DOHC ZC is to send your stocks of to be reground. You will hear people to say swap the B18A/B's valve train over to the ZC, but the ZC valve springs are stiffer than a B18A/B's valve springs.

My advice, order a JDM D15B VTEC from http://www.homotrsonline.com, they are pretty close in price, if not the same. good luck.

if you have an 88 hf you could just get the stock sohc zc - which makes more power than the d16y8 (best sohc VTEC i know of) WITHOUT VTEC, and get an si or zc tranny, chipped pm6 and rape the dog **** out of unsuspecting b-series w/7k+ RPM...like i used to do w/a damn dx tranny. oh and i got my zc from Hmotors...$633 shipped from cali. to florida - awesome company and motor

I just bought a Si with a OBD0 SOHC ZC non vtec, and I can't believe the power it has. It feels faster than my EG that has a OBD1 ZC SOHC vtec. Anyway, I agree with this guy that you should get the OBD0 SOHC non vtec ZC (easiest swap and seems to have high compression or something), second choice would be the D16A6 and build the **** out of it later, third choice would be to convert to OBD1 and get the OBD1 SOHC ZC so you can have vtec (more difficult/costly). Maybe up the compression on it. OBD1 has the advantage that you can get an aftermarket ECU like the EMS.

B16 on an EF is not only more expensive/difficult, but you also need aftermarket engine mounts if I'm not mistaken.
