i was about to go and pay the rent today. phucking car died on me. engine still starts but gear doesn't want to go in and clutch is loose. what is the problem? is there a tranny involve or is this just a clutch?
Check to see if the clutch cable broke...Is there any pressure when you push the clutch in or does it just go right to the floor like there is nothing holding it back
First check to make sure your clutch cable hasn't snapped and is connected to both the transmission and the pedal assembly before you start tearing into the clutch or transmission.

how would i check that. please give me a step be step. and the car is parked in front of somebody's house different neighborhood. i haven't check on the car yet.
1. Get under the dash and make sure the cable is attached to clutch pedal
2. Go into the engine bay and make sure the cable is attached to the trans. The cable attaches to a black arm right near the battery
3. Have a friend push the clutch pedal in and watch the black arm. If the cable pulls the arm then the cable is fine and it is something inside the trans

If its not the cable, the clutch plate won't be the problem. It would be related to the linkage arm or the release arm. Not to be mean, but you really don't know much about cars do you? This is some pretty basic stuff man.
