Default B18c5 Head-ValveTrain Question

i recently picked up a a Type R b18c5 head w/ over 70k on it, the only problem is the car it was on burnt oil and im sure it was the head...since thats usally what causes oil to burn. should i buy a OEM valvetrain? After market? whats some good websites or whatnot or some setups to run on that i mean my car is only gotta intake and exhuast so i dont really know what to get? with this should i also try to find a b18c5 computer for it run anybetter? also cam gears are they worth it? since im going to need get the valve adjusted right minus well have somebody do cam gear adjustments?

thanks...and sorry i prob just rambled on during this post i hope somebody can help me

the first thing that goes bad on those motors is piston rings, the valve seals should be fine but you can replace them while the head is out.

if oil consumption is realized at the head, then most likely valve seals, how were you able to make sure it's the head? however, get the head resurfaced for sure, the shop should be able to check out the for oil consumption,

does the DC2R head bolt right up to the GSR block?

well it was a b18c1 w/ a b18c5 head on it so i donno if that would make a difference maybe the head is ok but the car burning a good ammount of oil at the higher rpms enough to the point where you would had some before oil changes i forget how much but it was def. over a quart

Rings. Its a common problem on engines that take a lot of stress (high RPMs).


The head is probably fine. Make sure the valves seat correctly and if you want, open up the head a little more on the intake side for better flow.
