Default a/c compressor question

my a/c system has been removed for about 2 years . i know if i install my a/c system again, i will have to vacuum all the air and moisture out of the lines before i can recharge it . my friend, who is a a/c tech, lives about an hour away . i want to save time and install the a/c compressor belt at home so i dont have to do it at his house . but is it ok to put the alternator-a/c belt on the compressor with all the electrical connectors disconnected while i am driving to my friends house ? or will putting on a belt cause my compressor to overheat and malfunction ?

No its fine to put the belt on. the only time the compressor turns is when the compressor clutch is engaged which is when you push the ac button.
