Default trAnsmission problem.... please help

i drive my S in the weekends but on weekdays i drive my 97 honda prelude for school and work. i noticed my transmission wasnt kicking in when i put the car in drive. so i took it to the dealer and they told me the trans is toast. it would cost over 4000 to repair. i was wonderin if anyone knows anywhere that does trans for cheap. i prefer somwhere cheao but somewhere that does a good job. please let me know and how much... i would prefer somewhere in southern california.

thanks

rule number one, you get what you pay for, plus now would be a good time to do a 5 speed swap

Ouch, for that price you could easily convert it to a 5speed, which is recommended since if you just replace the auto one itll probably also end up giving out on you in the future.
