Default JRSC Power Loss

I am just curious to know roughly how much power does a Jackson Racing Supercharger take off of a 5th gen prelude SH¿

I was watching Top Gear and the Mclaren Mercedes SLR uses 120HP just to use the supercharger!

It doesn't take power unless it is making boost, and then it makes more power than it takes, so you never lose power. There is a bypass valve built into the system that lets the blower freewheel when you're not making boost, so it will take about 1 HP to spin it when not in use.

I know it makes more power than it takes, I was just curious to know when it is under boost, how much power it takes to run the charger.

I didnt know that the charger didn't use power of the engine while not in boost. Ya learn something new everyday.

The middle graph tells you that. It is in blower RPM, so you will have to figure out engine RPM vs. blower RPM (use the ratio of the circumference of your pulleys). You'll also have to interpolate it if you are not running 5 or 10 PSI.

Holy crap dude, that is some good info. Thanks.

I don't have the charger installed or even purchased yet. I just like information/knowledge.

The same goes for a turbo (in the form of backpressure). It takes some power to make power. Bump for an answer. Ill say maybe 10%
