Default did it myself icebox

well i took off my sri and ice-boxed myself up. I went to homedepot trying to piece together the parts to make a bsq kit... but they didnt have the thin walled pvc so i kinda scrapped it. I used the tube that connects the airbox to the resonator... but cut off the resonator, and connected it to a part i hacked off my sri. Sooner or later id like to get an "air funnel" or something with a little bigger diameter for the end. anyway, if you have some design ideas... feel free to share.

feels better on the butt dyno... but who knows if that means anything.

don't forget to drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the box to prevent sucking up water.

hahahahahaha

I'm glad to see everyone has an intelligent opinion to contribute

but in seriousness, that thing looks pretty cool for a DIY icebox.

Nice I thought I was the only one who did that. Did you do the new intake arm into the stock box?

Looks solid! I think it will work nicely with the stick box for a stealthy fit.

Not a bad job. Yeah, you're goin to need the velocity stack to get proper airflow into your intake.

Looks like a solid job. What kind of air filter do you have on that?

ok well i got the k&n filter in. Its a stock replacement but sweet mother of jesus it was hard as **** to get in. It took me and my bro like 20 minutes of sweating and cursing. We eventually put hand cream on the end to lube it up, that did it. after it went into the intake arm i told my bro to bring it to the front of the house so we could start cleaning it... and he wouldnt touch it. He was too scared it was gonna come out, he made me go get it. anyway, pain in the *** but worth it. car pulls better, stronger, smoother, and is a weee bit louder. worth every penny. (also my stock filter was pretty done)

don't forget to make a velocity stack on the end of the tube that's sucking in air.

You can get plastic speaker port tubes from http://www.partsexpress.com (cost $0.79) or you can get aluminum turbo bellmouths from http://www.velocity-of-sound.c...GO%21++ (cost $20).

thanks bsq, is one "better" than the other? you use the speaker one correct?

edit: well it doesnt even matter, the shipping for the turbo inlets is 20 bucks... im just not gonna pay that. speaker port/inlet/outlet/basstube/thing it is

The turbo bellmouth has a larger and smoother radius opening which "should" help with "smoothing" (ie. reducing turbulance) airflow into the cold air intake tube, when compared to the speaker port. This is all theoretical speculation, since I haven't done any test comparing the turbo bellmouth to the speaker port. It would be interesting to see if there would be any performance advantage.

Yes, I use the plastic speaker port tubes.
