Default More questions about a B18C1 swap in a 2000

2000 USDM GSR motor in a 2000 Civic hatch DX

My buddy and I combed the engine bay for all loose ends this morning, and came up with a list of things that need to be replaced with the correct parts. However, we are not sure whether the parts we need are out of a civic or a GSR. Here is the list of parts in question:

* Clutch SC Lines - the hard clutch line that goes from the clutch slave cylinder to the firewall. Also, what brackets for this line?

* Charcoal Canister - The one currently in the engine bay is out of a GSR, and does not mount up to the bracket on the firewall like it should. Would a charcoal canister from a 96-00 work just as well (i.e. same amount of line inputs, etc)

Exhaust - the motor currently has a DC 4-1 header, which does not mount up to the DX exhaust. The DX exhaust is way narrow, so l will probably be looking to replace it with something wider in diameter, but looking and sounding as close to stock as possible. What muffler/midpipe do people generally use with this kind of a swap, and if stock components will not work what aftermarket do you guys recommend?

Any ideas/pointers are appreciated.

TIA!

Did you keep the stock metal line that goes from the slave cylinder, or did you use the one that came with the motor?

Can you please take a pic of that part of your engine bay - I don't know anyone with a GSR!!! I should be able to tell whether you have the stock civic line, or whether you are using the GSR one by looking at the pic

Also - what throttle cable did you use?

Thanks for the reply!

a - stock civic line - i haven't found a nice way for it to fit cleanly but it works
b - civic will work
c - just take it to a muffler shop...you want something quiet get gsr/type r cat back and have them weld it up...not a big deal

Prod - you are really helping me out today.

Doesn't sound like there is a point to get the civic clutch line then. It looks like crap and has some bracket hanging off it, but I guess as long as it works it should be fine. I'll have to go look for a civic canister at a junkyard tomorrow, hopefully I can score one. All 96+ civic stuff gets picked clean in a matter of hours where I live.

I have an RSX muffler (rear section only). I tried test-fitting it, but it's tough to figure out while laying on the garage floor. Any idea if it will work with a custom mid-pipe?

RE the exhaust - I can get a hold of a stock 99-00 Si exhaust. Any idea if the rear section from a coupe will fit on the hatch? I know the midpipe is too long, but it would be great if I could use a stock Si muffler.

I don't know for sure about either exhaust, I'm almost positive the Si muffler fits because it's the same as gsr afaik. You'll have to visit the muffler shop no matter what bc anyway you swing it the mid pipe + axle back is going to be too long.

fwiw i have a type r muffler on my 97 dx and it fits fine

search for the rsx exhaust i think i seen some people do that before
