Default So I decided to custom build a sick roll cage!!!!! pics inside. (56k crash and burn)

Well i saw my friends rock crawler that he built and it inspred me to get creative and build a 6 point roll cage, but retain a full interior. And here is how the story goes.

Got to his shop at his house on a monday afternoon.

Went to check out the rock crawler

After seeing that, I had to go in the shop and get to work.

Gutted!

Here are the tools that we used.

The ill welder

This sick *** pipe bender

And lastly the notching tool

Can't forget the 100 feet of 1 5/8" diameter 1/4" thick diesel *** piping

Before we get started let me make sure that the torch is working just in case we need it

mmmmmmmm works like a charm!!!

now lets get creative and make one sick *** cage!!!

Every point was plated. mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, what a sexy weld.

I love the way that kicker bar hugs the dash

After working on it for a few hours each night we finally got it done.
Now we paint.

I sanded it, primed it, sanded it again, painted it silver, and cleared it. I used the duplicolor truck and suv paint. It worked out good, and it goes on nice and thick.

When its all cleaned up, i will post pics with the interior back in.

Looks nice as stated....one question....are you SURE it was 1/4 inch thick tubing? That would be .250 in a decimal. If so....that is WAAAAYYYYYYY to thick. All you need is .134. If you went with .250 wall thickness, who knows how much un-neccasary weight you added. Just my thoughts...but it does look really nice. Is that flux-core welding or no? Doesnt look like it since there is no spatter but does look like it because of all the brown "sutty" powder **** around the weld.

if you can actually find one, probably about $500. and what you want is a TUBING bender...a pipe bender you can buy new for like $75 or les, but they will kink tubing. the one that the guy advertised on this thread...he wanted like $900 for it I think. you could buy them new from pro-tools.com for around $700.

Props for making something that looks good.

Of course, it isn't legal, it would probably collapse in a rollover, and it must weigh 300 pounds if it is really 1/4" thick!

Dude i really didnt get mad, i was just being as sarcastic as you were. everyone can have an opinion, good or bad. i dont mind. i know that some people will like it and some wount. but anyway thanks for your feedback, i might change a few things about the cage this winter.

oh yeah, im not the greatest with decimals, when i looked the bill for the tubing, it was .134 diameter.
