Default Broke into my civic 2WICE

HELLO ALL,
well im a new here and glad to be a part of the site, heres my problem i own 2 civic's and a del sol, and i been living in a apartment complex for 1 1/2 years and never any problems, until 2 weeks ago they broke into my 98 civic ex and tried to take the whole car whe they couldnt get past my custom iginition kill switch they got mad and took my eclipse stereo, mtx amps, and kicker subs, i was pissed..! so i go out and buy a viper 350hx and get a little peace of mind then 2 nights ago they manage to get into again with the car alarm on !!! i look at the civic and im wondering how did they get into the hood? well turns out ALL civic's hoods can be opened really easy without going inside the car i wont specify how i figured it out but its sooo damn easy to break into you'd be amazed, opens right up what a FLAW?! so i try it on my other civic same thing the hood opens right up, then my del sol and it works again! so i fixed that problem and nolonger can you hack my hoods! and also added those kill switches for the fuel pump and the ignition a couple of posts down, luckily my del sol and other civic i leave them parked at mt mom's house so my nieghbors wont complain about me taking up all the parking spaces.anyone have any other input to help me keep the cars safe? i already ordered a backup battery and a proximity field sensor from dei.

Mike

The flaw in any car, the windows, I mean, you can just break them. There are films, [like tint] that can be applied, good ones are expensive, but you mean bending them out of the way a bit, so you can get in and unlock the door, I have seen a "clip", [made and installed by one of my installers on his car] mounted in the upper back of the door, so when the window was all the way up, the glass was under the clip, you could not pry the window out at all, they had also got into his car the same way, next time they broke the window, He now uses my method, don't lock the doors, locked doors only keep honest people out crooks don't care how much damage they do to your car. Most crooks will try the door first, to see if it's unlocked, and I think it's better that the alarm goes off before damage is done.
I have a hood lock, and I have a hood pin on both sides of the hood, so lifting the hood, even a tiny bit on either side will trigger the alarm, this is to prevent "pealing", [bending the hood on one side]
Did you find the, [pop the hood with the cable in the drivers wheelwell] that has been mentioned here on H/T lots of times, and the fix, [ rerouting it] or did you find the other even easier way, that I have not seen here on H/T, and will also not mention? The hood lock will fix both problems. A good alarm with a loud siren or two will also go a long way. Imagine this, a crook targets you car, he checks around for witnesses, waits till he thinks it's safe, sneaks up to your, tries the door, its not locked so it opens, the alarm trips, [ even though he checks the door he is not expecting it to open] if he isn't already booking it he will then want to disable the alarm as soon as possible, pop the hood using the hood release, it won't open, [hood lock] now the alarm has been running for a good 5-10 sec., at this point he may take a look under the dash to see if he can see the alarm or it's wiring and disable it that way, [but the alarm and it's wiring is well hidden or camouflaged, now the alarm has been running for 10-20 sec., at this point, even if the crook is a crack head, he is thinking about getting the hell out of there.
This has worked for me more then once, [unlocked doors] even though I have the door locks wired to my alarm, I have an EXT function, [button on remote] wired to unlock the doors after arming, so when I have to park in a "high risk area", [down town Vancouver] I don't come back to a car with a busted window, I have come back to find the alarm has been tripped, even a door left open, but nothing worse then the glove box rifled, I also do not leave anything loose in the car , [cd case ect.] 94

fcm,
thankyou for the input.. yeah they didnt break a window they just pulled it back and knocked it out of its track.. im going to work on something, something i think i can fabricate to keep it from coming out then they will have to break it and set off the shock sensor. and as for the hood they cant pull the release cable from underneath the wheelwell my car is lowered and it tucks the 17's i cant fit a finger in there, and yes i found the "other" easier way to pop the hood and remedied that by insulating the wire with a 1inch metal tubing bolted to the frame.
sometimes i wonder is it really worth it in the end spending all your spare time and money to customize your car only so that some lowlife with nothing to lose can take it away in less than 2 minutes?

p.s. leaving the doors unlocked and the alarm armed is very creative just im programmed to LOCK DOORS so i dont think i could mentally walk away knowing my doors are unlocked and be able to keep peace of mind. oh yes and 1 more thing i just ordred a proximity sensor and a backup battery so im going to install them inside a locked black box in the vehicle somewhere.
