Main Relay woes.....
The other day my car died out for no apparent reason, then it restarted a lil bit later. Drove the care then it started doing this every few miles and took longer and longer to start in between.
I thouhgt it was the fuel pump until I searched and read up on the main relay problems. So I took out the main relay and soldered the two pins that need to be resoldered and the car drove perfect for a few hours, then stalled out again and did it like 4 times in a mile. The main relay was really hot, so I took off the plastic cover and held it near the window the rest of the way home, and it went 20 miles without a problem.
So, is the main relay bad and need to be replaced, or is there another problem I need to address?
thanks

same thing happened to me. my car would just decide to die while driving down the road, i'd coast to the side and turn the key on and off about 25 times, then it would start back up and run for who knows how long. someone i know that is ALWAYS right about my car told me to go buy a main ignition relay (fist sized black box with 2 bolts and a plug-in) and try that. i bought it at a local parts store, was like 40$, took 2 min to put in, and havent had a problem since. NAPA autoparts ftw
