Clutch or tranmisson Problem?
Alright i just got my 93 si prelude and there a few minnor problems with either my clutch or tranny. I can switch gear ok, but as i get into higher RPM's it grindes going into second and third gear. i think its my clutch just not activating right or its just worn, and needs to be replaced. But when i go to clutch experts or any place like that they say its my whole tranny and its going to cost over $900 to fix. So can anybody give there imput on what the problem may be and how to solve it. Thanks
well if your going to experts and they're telling you whats wrong... then? And if your clutch was going it would be free revving (increasing in rpms, but not speed/power) or it just straight up wouldnt go into gears properly. If GEARS are GRINDING then chances are your synchros are bad, or your fork is screwed, or one of the other possibilities of something failing in a transmission. Is it all gears? or just one or two? if its just one or two, Id have those gears synchros looked at, replacing them might be all you need. But tranny diagnosis is way too complicated for internet help. Listen to your mechanical experts, or take it to a dealership if you think theyre trying to screw you.
Its just when i enter second and third gear. all the other gear work fine. But that just there name is clutch experts, cause that what they specialize in, So they say..
