Default Dyno tuned my b18c5 motor (look inside)

Well here is the latest dyno plot of my jdm b18cr. The car was tuned by Andre from speed tech in lower hutt (new zealand) on a dynapack.

The current performance modifications includes:
Custom cold air intake from the guard
Mugen 4-1 stainless steel headers
Modified mugen twinloop catback exhaust with no cat.
Aem camgears and vafcII tune
Aftermarket FPR
Walbro 255lph fuel pump.

I almost have my goal of 200whp with bolt ons but want to know what to do next?
The vtec point is set to 5000rpm, and the tuner couldnt establish what was making the jaggered edges once on vtec, about 6000rpm and 7000 rpm.

Look out for my car in the august edition of the australian fast fours magazine, i think you guys get it in the states?

Still at the moment its running about 193whp in din mode, sae mode may add another couple of hp. I was thinking of getting some itbs, before cams so i could get there with no internal mods, plus i love the sound.

How does this compare with others with similar mods?

Not that I know about the jaggered edges but I suggest you find a different tuner since he can't resolve the issues.

Dynapack torque curves look like that due to their funky scaling.

Also, Dynapacks tend to read HIGHER than Dynojets; I believe B19coupe has a comparision thread whereby he compared his identical setup on a Dynapack vs. Dynojet.

Did you not see the mod list up top??? everything else is standard, aircon has been removed but still have power sterring.

how did you modify your mugen exhaust? did you replace the piping before the resonator with larger piping? did it make a difference?

Those are some pretty nasty flatspots in the powerband, your somehow losing power from 5800-6100. Its like the car has 2 cross-over points, def need a better tune.

just replaced the cat with a straight reducer pipe to the 2.25 section of mugen exhaust

Any other comments about the flat spots, the tuner thinks must be to do with timing and need a fully adjustable computer, but the a/f ratio was good the whole way through so nothing unexpected at those points? The ctec point was set at 5000rpm as you see the huge jump in power and no crossover dip at all.

The way we optimised the vtec point was by setting the vtec point very low ie 3000rpm and comparing that curve with one with the vtec set really high like 6500rpm, where the two graphs intersected when overlayed is where the optimal point of vtec should be due to the best of low cam and the best of high cam.

Off the subject but when you modified your twinloop how did it effect the exhaust note?

That's a major dip in the torque curveat 6000rpm. There's no reason for that to be there. That should easily be removed through proper tuning.

Was the tune just trying to get the highest peak power number out of the tuning session because that torque curve is all over the place and not anywhere near what I would call smooth.

That doesn't look like a map that any experienced tuner would put down. What gear are your dyno pulls being done in?

Without the cat it still sounds mint, no nasty cackles or drone.

AS for tuning we ran out of things to adjust, ie cam gears set fpr set, and fuel set using vafc to a good af ratio, so without timing control, what else is there to change, apart from tuner of course.

The torque curve will look all over the plave but you need to take into account the scale, if you added and extra 150nm to the bottom of the graph, or 15 more grid lines, the graph would flatten substantially.

No one ever had a problem like this before? someone must have seen something similar when tuning.

I've never seen this...well, I did when some kid had tuned his own Hondata so I would go some where that has a reputation for decent tuning. And Im really curious as to how you made so much power with the limited amount of mods you have...just doesn't seem right.

And can you answer my question?

I thought you could have figured that out looking at the end speed and ratio.
It was done in third but the torque on this graph has already been divided by the gear ratio used to give the final torque reading.

I thought it was quite good power considering the mods, maybe just a freak motor, its only done about 60k on it.
