Default Good lowering springs w/o replacing shocks

I searched and couldn't find a legit answer...

I just bought a new EK, coupe. It has low miles on it, so I just wanted to upgrade my springs so it handles a lot better. I've been looking at a few, but can't find a concrete feedback. Anyone know of any good ones that will make it look as nice as it handles? Any input helpful...thanks!

the stock shock just can't handle the extra stress of the car being lowered, and they will blow.

might last about a month, but after that, the car will be bouncy and ride like ****.

but I did the same, got springs, blew my struts, then got my konis. and never been happier.

but if I were to restart everything, I'd wait and get a nice set of Tein. or good quality full coilovers.

i had Tein S-Techs on my ek coupe and ek hatch and loved the ride/look but the handling left more to be desired, so i stepped up to the Tein Super Street Full Coilover and have never been happier

with all the money i have spent on different spring/shock combos i could have bought the Tein twice.

just do it right the first time and you won't be dissappointed

i agree with what everyone else is saying, but to answer your questions, you might want to look in to tein s-techs or eibach pro kits. they'll make your car handle a bit better but the look might not be as low as you'd like. you might wanna also think about ground controls coilovers. i've seens some guys run those with near stock spring rate on stock shocks and haven't had any problems but thats them and this is you

Running stock everything but springs I would have to say the Eibach pro kit. It will look better without that horrible "slammed on stock wheels ricer look". It will handle better, you won't scrub, and your alignment/camber won't be a problem. I have had a set on stock shocks on the daily for 2 years with no problems. The trailing arm bushings went before the shocks.

The H&R OE Sport springs are basically the only ones that your oem struts can handle. It's inly a .75" drp though.

I have OmniPower coilover sleeves with OEM struts, no problem here.

But, I will be going back to OEM spring setuo since I bottom out on every dip that I take at more than 2 MPH. What a shitty ride when it bottoms out. Feel like the springs are going to shoot through the strut towers.

He said he wanted it to handle better, not worse.

I think I am just going to get the pro kit. I used to have intrax on my old eg coupe, and no problems. But I want to try something different. Thanks!

good call, i have put several sets of these on stock set ups with no issues. I sell parts and have access to whatever the hell i want and these are my choice for my daily. Check those trailing arm bushings. If they are cracked and shot out as most are, your rear will sit lower and your camber will be shot...but this isn't a spring issue, just exaggerated with them.

I got a fairly cheap suspension setup on my EG hatch and well I could be happier this setup works fine. I have Goldline 2" or maybe they are 2.5" drop springs and I have just the regular old KYB struts on there and the ride is good and the car isnt to low. If and when I do get enough money Im gonna try to put a 5 lug swap on there and at that point Ill change up my suspension.

I was running Neuspeed Race springs w/ stock shocks in my Si at one time and the ride was better then what I'm running now. Ground Control's w/ adjustable Tokico Illuminas.

My buddy is also running Race w/ stock shocks in his '00 Teg. and it's also pretty smooth.

Neuspeed or H&R is the only way to go IMO

I've been lowered on sprint extremes (3.25" front, 3.0 rear) for about 4 years on stock shocks and the ride is still great. No one I know can explain why my stock shocks aren't blown yet.

You guys must have some serious camber nightmares on your hands unless you're running camber kits of course.

Okay, this is from people i know that have eks with just lowering springs and stock struts. There ride is like stock maybe alittle bit rougher but not much still a confy ride. There cars look nice lowered. 2 of them have 98 civics eks that autox like CRAZY and there structs are not blown. but dont push your luck like them! Give it a try and see what you think. You should be fine untill you afford some sturts. Get some rs*r, tein, ground control or eibach springs dont go ebay or dropzone stuff. Then you should pick up some tokico or koni yellows in the future.
