Default Sumitomo street tires for track?

Does anyone have any experience with the Sumitomo HTR-Z or HTRZ II?

A friend with a 240SX says they're pretty capable street tires for track driving events, but I was wondering how they compare to Azenis or Kumho MX.

I guess that pretty much sums it up, thanks.

I have ran the HTRZ II, the Azenis and the MX on track.
The HTRZ II just didn't compare to the MX and the Azenis. They turned to goo quickly.

Which tyres do you use on the track?

Does it make my point any less valid? I've been using DOT-R comps for 3 years now, just not on a road course.

Besides, those Sumitomos have some awfully low treadwear numbers. Granted they are arbitrary numbers when compared to other makes, but that would seem to indicate that they lag behind the top street tires in both grip and longevity.

I had HTR-Z on my Type R and the butt dyno says they were a little slower than the stock RE010. Not terrible, but definitely not Azenis caliber.

If you're not going to elaborate and 'splain yourself, then why post? Slower... slower than what? Etc...

The guy said:

I assumed it would be picked up that was what I was referring to. I'll make sure to elaborate more next time.

my brother has ran htr z's on his turbo'd maxima at a couple track days now. being a big/heavy/powerful car, he wants more in the front, but i guess they are fine in the rear. they are priced right though, and he gets a lot of mileage from them. great street tire that CAN be tracked, but obviously arent the best for track days.
