How do you make 12 sec. CRX
Right now I'm working on my 88 CRX Si. The bottom line is I want my car to run 12s. The downside is that I pay rent. I rather not take out another loan to beef up my CRX and this is pretty much gonna take 6-9 months. I'm deployed overseas right now but I'll be starting out with either the SiR B16 or the XSi OBD1 B16 in September when I get back. Which ever one it is, it will have an LSD. I don't plan on gutting out my car either. I figure that after swap, I'll look into the usual CTR head work, CAI and Headers. The car has a fiberglass body kit and fenders already. I doubt it's making much a weight difference but I though I should mention that there on there. I honestly still can't decide if I rather daily F/I or bottle feeding it. Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.
built B16 and a big shot of nitrous
I have two vids of a white B16 hatch with a large shot of nitrous and vs a Supra it did 12.99 and against a Lancer (not EVO) it did a 11.99.
EDIT: Your other option is a B16 or B18a/b/c turbo. The turbo setup will cost a lot more, but you might be able to meet your goal with a stock block if your motor is in good condition and your turbo is set up properly.

1st thing, make great traction.

If you are on a budget. Of coarse turbo can get it for much more $$.
Friday night I watched a SOHC w/ HMT EF run 13.7.

That's why I'm going with the LSD option. It's seems that a lot of people who don't have one really wish they did.

Do that many people use nitrous? I'm suprised no one said CAI, CTR Camshafts and other internals like that.

if you are goig all motor, you better increase the compression to about 11:1, upgrade cams, valve train, sleeve or fill your block, rods, pistons, head studs, MSD external coil, ITBs. All motor will cost you a **** load. BOTTOMLINE.
If you want to get into the 12's fo runder 5K including the motor, boost it. Peice yourself together a kit, learn how to weld (if you dont know how already) and make your own charge pipes and downpipe. You can buy an exhaust kit from http://www.kteller.com for like $250 or so.

You expect to gain 2 seconds by adding a 75 shot of nitrous? good luck.

I'm looking into getting that same engine frmo hmo. What kind of times did you rin with that setup. I have an '88 Si but I'm sure the weight won't be that much a difference.

The reason i ask is because i have a b16 in my Dx with I-H-E, and run 14.5 at 3700ft elevation. At sea level , it's usually about a half second improvement. So if i run all motor 14.0-13.9 and squeeze a 75, 12's could be realistic. So , it might not be as hard as you think!

Shreveport stinks and it lies at approx. 210 feet above sea level.

I have only guesses on the times i run, everytime i get anywhere newar a strip something ***** up...at the strip that is. Granted only been twice but still 0/2 on the 1/4
But i have the weirdest motor ever. It's a 5million series pr3 b16a. That is supposted to have 170hp. Like the 2nd gen b16 but it came with the Lsd Gs-r Ys-1 tranny. In the hf, it's unparalled. I could prolly run low 14's if i'm on a good day. But that's just me guessing.

Cold air intake / headers / exhaust is a must have... You've got to have the air flow to achieve the HP, can't do it on 2 inch pipes thats for sure. They're not mentioning cam shafts / CTR pistons etc because they're not telling you All Motor setup stuff, they're saying to run nitrous.. you can achieve great HP with it but it isn't reliable horsepower, it's blow your engine then install another kinda HP
Do more research, you keep asking these dumb questions and you really don't understand the answers you read... You just hear part names and want to buy them.. Go read the FAQ and learn how an engine works for the umteenmillionth time. fffaaawk.

I hate it when people automatically clasify nitrous as the engine blower upper.....please that's f&f ****. If its done right nothing is gonna blow up. So please!

I already know how an engine works. This isn't the first time I'm trying to build up a CRX. The first I put almost attention to since I knew I wouldn't be driving it for very long. I already have my opinion on how to make my car faster. All I'm doing is trying to get input from people who've already done what I'm just starting to work on.

the 2 setups id go for if i was to reach 12s.
d series turbo
z6 or y8 swap
t3 turbo
2.5-3 inch exhaust
front mount
4 puck clutch
nice set of drag radials
and standalone or convert to obd1 and run uberdata
thats a budget setup and guaranteed 12s. my friend run a very similar setup and goin low 12s.
other setup
b16 or ls
i,h,e
75 shot
drag radials
4 puck clutch
also do weight reduction. both setups should easily hit 12s if ur a good driver.

definitly spend the extra 300 bucks for an oem lsd tranny. i wish i did. aftermarket lsd is like what 1000 bucks? plus the install.
