Default Need Help?

Does anyone know of any signs that a timing belt is about to go? Because i hear this strange noise coming from underneath the timing belt cover its like a repeated clanking noise like something is being hit.

There usually aren't any signs it's about to go. You just end up walking one day. That's not to say your belt doesn't have a strand flapping around because it's coming apart. More likely, I think you may have a tensioner that is going bad or maybe even the water pump. You could remove the valve cover and the top part of the timing belt cover and inspect the belt if it will ease your mind.

would a bad tensioner or water pump cause your car to die out and not re-start?
BTW my oil pressure light and battery light are on, but the CEL is not on and the ecu is not throwing any codes. TIA
