Which clutch to buy??
Hey guys, I've searched a bit and found mixed opinions. I'm thinking either ACT organic or Exedy organic for my 89 CRX si. Anyone have any experience based opinions?? thanks
The Exedy is an upgrade to the stock clutch. Unless you have a very high power or super grippy tires this should be just fine. We have an OEM unit in our race car and it works just fine on track. I would consider reliability of the drivetrain and your specific application before going to a high clamping rate. Iv'e been there with a muscle car and assure you that clutch life is different from stock (as is cost).

I have actually had both the act stage1 and currently exedy stage1.Both clutches perform very well. If you can get a deal on either one I would highly recomend them.
only thing that bothered me was the exedy clutch would chatter when moving slow in 1st. It seems to be a common problem but doesnt affect performance.

OEM or equivalent.......make the clutch the weakest part of that whole driveline. You don't want a rock solid clutch that will tear your tranny apart.
*hint* trannies cost more than clutches and OEM will last quite awhile.
Upgrading the flywheel couldn't hurt though

I have an exedy stage 1 clutch in my Integra and I love it, it grabs fast, but it still also allows for very streetable clutch. I do experience the same thing that PINEAPPLE mentioned. ("only thing that bothered me was the exedy clutch would chatter when moving slow in 1st. It seems to be a common problem but doesnt affect performance.") My car is kinda jerky with the clutch when I am in low gears (1st and 2nd) when I am not accelerating, but when I start to acclerate that thing grabs and I'm off
I would recommend the Exedy Clutch
I also installed a lightend flywheel at the time which I also recommend

dude if i was u i would go ahead and change out the flywheel to a 90 crx and get a 90 crx clutch b/c it has a bigger clamp surface 200 for 89 compared to 212 for 90. that is what i am doin for mine.
oh and exedy all the way

If your NA either will work great. I had the exedy for a couple years and loved it. Untill I installed a big turbo and some falken azenies. Than it started slipping bad at full boost. Now im using a six pack sprung from clutch specialties.
