sup guys

i drive a 00 si and it wont start ...
i know theres another post that has a similar problem, but mine actually cranks, it just doesnt start ..
i have kill switches installed, fuel cutoff and ignition kill ..

the past two days it would start weakly after a couple tries and giving gas ..
now it doesnt start at all, it just cranks ..
it died on me while i was driving, and now i cant get it to start ..
i tried jumping it, but it didnt work, but i only left the jumper cables charging for a couple minutes ..
also, it stopped cranking too for a little bit, only to start cranking again when i tried later .. ?
the batteries are old too, not factory but around 2 years +

i read in the other post if it cranks but doesnt start it could be the main relay ..
my friends are also telling me it could be a bad alternator or batteries .. ?
i dont think its an ignition problem because it does crank, just doesnt start ..
and im thinking it might be a fuel problem due to my cutoff switch ??

any help is appreciated .. please gimme some info !

I kinda have the same hunch that its a fuel prombelm too... Turn the key to on position but dont start the car.. See if you're fuel pump primes ( Make a noise and then shut off) start there come back and tell me what you find out.. Some of those switches burn up that people use for cut off switches. Also check to see if your car has spark

 

i think the fuel pump primes, i hear the kind of sound that it usually makes .. i dont know if it makes spark .. ?

 

also, right before it died on me, it would sputter and shake when i gave any more than around quarter throttle ?

 

are you getting any spark?

 

i took it to the shop, they said its a distributor problem ... im supposed to shell out 587$ on new distributor and rotor ... does this sound like an accurate solution ? i dont want to get ripped off

 

600 bucks for a freakin dizzy..wow...not stealing ur thread or ne thing..but i got the same problem with my 99 si i just did a ls-v swap and my car wont start..i got fuel.. i got spark..i think its a ground problem..but i cant find it..if ne one has ne ideas let me know...thanks

hey bubba,dont feel bad i have a similiar prob.this wont fix it but it might get it started.unhook the fuel line that runs to the fuel rail but on the fuel filter.then turn the key on to see if the pump primes and see if fuel spills out.if it does then right after that turn the key off put the line back on and see if it will start then.thats what mine does and i dont know what to fix to make it work like its suppose to.
