Default i want to run an sc34 .63 a/r on my daily driven built, ls/vtec setup, what trimi should i run?

i currently have a greddy 18g on my b16 stock block. i have just received the block back from the machine shop. and i am afraid i am going to be disappointed with the turbo on my new setup being that i am disapointed with it on my current setup. so heres the thing. i think i am going to be running a bmc log manifold, a 3 inch downpipe, and a tial 38mm wastegate. however i'm not exactly sure which turbo i want to get. i am leaning towards a sc34 .63 a/r. but i'm not sure what trim to get. if anyone has a similar setup and would like to give me some input i would appreciate it.

thank,
vernon

the 57 trim very decent on a b series, and i think its rated to like 545 hp as per garrett's website, so its got some potential as well

I run the 57 trim SC34 on my 2 liter B18c and I think its sized perfectly. Its a great medium sized turbo IMO. I start making positive pressure as low as 2k and I have full boost by 4.5k rpm. 50 trim might be more suitable for a B16 tho.

I don't believe it could ever support 545hp even on race gas. Not sure why its rated so high.

*Edit: 4,500th post. Dynamite!

50 trim is what I run, and love it! Nice and streetable, meaning quicker spool, responsiveness, and great power.

huh, you get full spool by 4.5 rpm. I have a B16 and i'm using the 57 trim .63 a/r, and i get full spool by 4k

my 57 trim .63 turbine hits 10 psi at 4k in 4th gear on my stock b18b. this is with a boost controller, my wastegate spring is .5 bar. i gained about 400 rpm spool time by adding the boost controller

I'm boosting 8.3 psi and sometimes 9psi , no boost controller, and i'm running a 3in exhaust ( which might be the differnce, if you are running a smaller exhaust)

im running the lovefab shorty (log style) manifold. i have my compressor on the passengers side. before i got a slim fan, i didnt have enough room to get a piece of silicone around the inlet to make an intake pipe. there is also at best 1/4 inch between the end of my compressor housing and the hydraulic line for the clutch slave cyl.

i wound up getting a slim fan and mounting it in front of the radiator, now i have plenty of room down there and consequently made a cold air intake

My compressor is on my drivers side. if you want pics, click on the link in my sig. Spool time isn't too bad and it doesn't die up top, it keeps pulling till redline.

If you don't mind me asking how much power did you put down?

And to B16Civic93, The sc34 is good turbo in my opinion, but what are your power goals. Do you plan on building the motor?

my goal is around 400 whp.

the bottom end of hte engine is built. i'm just waiting to put it in. it has stock sleeves though.

i have a greddy 18g turbo now and its on a stock b16. and i think that it will max out at around 300whp at most.

so i want to upgrade the turbo after i break in the engine and see what kind of power the other turbo it wil make because i'm sure that it will not satisfy me.

The sc34 should be able to produce the 400whp.
