2003 Accord EX automatic - vibration at idle
Hi All,
My girlfriend and I recently purchased a 2003 Accord EX (automatic) with a young 15,000 engine. All is well and great, but we have noticed an increased rate of vibration from the steering wheel and engine while the car is in gear, sittng on the brakes. The vibration becomes most apparent while sitting/waiting at a red light. When shift to neutral, the vibration ends and the car feels perfectly fine.
I understand after time, this is common with cars that has automatic transmissions. (that's why all the cars I have are manual)
Does this have to do with the engine mounts or tranny? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

unfortunately, since the car was purchased at an auction, the warranty is no longer valid. Thus the reason for the discounted price on the vehicle.

Service bulletin 04-024 covers a vibration problem on them. Seem as though there is a bit of difficulty with the engine mount as you suspected. But if the warranty has been cancelled because the car has been wrecked and totaled, there are likely other problems.

engine mount failure is not a automatic only problem. It's just harder to tell on a manual. I would run the vin through carfax and see if it was totalled. if it was, and you can determine if it was due to major front end damage, then you are definately going to want to replace ALL of your engine/trans mounts.
It's not that hard to do them one at a time because all you really need are a couple of jackstands, a hyfraulic jack and time.
