this happened on my hatch. $60 for new gaskets from the dealer.
Go to a specialty hose shop and request some 1/8" neoprene gasket material. 2 ft is more than enough. Costs about $5.
You'll need a utility knife, sharpie, hammer, and a few 3/8" copper couplings from home depot.
Make a pattern of the gasket and cut to size. Put the new gasket on the taillight and make tiny cuts where the threads need to penetrate. Reinstall the taillight and tighten the bolts handtight.
Remove the tailight. Use the 3/8" couplings as a hole punch. You'll see exactly where you need to make your holes. Reinstall the tailights and check for leaks.

do this
or some easy fix that i heard once is soak the old gaskets in warm-soapy water for about 15 minutes and let them dry in the sun. I guess you could try that first...
