Default 98 Civic DX motor into 88 CRX DX. Possible or Even Worth It?

Ive got an 88 CRX DX automatic. I found out today that this guy I know has an engine from a 98 Civic DX auto that he just wants to get rid of. He is looking for some graphic work done and most likely I can get this motor for a few hours of graphic work. Just wondering if this is worth attempting to put in my CRX.

I want to keep my CRX auto because I hate driving stick in the city. Plus my CRX is just an A to B car. In the past Ive had project cars to go fast but my CRX is the only car Ive ever owned that Ive kept and dont ever plan on selling.

The motor I have now is just the old D15B that is getting on in years and in the last year has given me nothing but problems. I have another 88 DX D15B for free coming to be from a donor Civic but I just want to know if this 98 Civic motor will be worth it to put in my CRX.

If I do swap this motor in what do I need to do it? Ive never even heard of people doing this swap into an EF before and have no idea what would be necessary to do it. Any suggestions or comments would be great. Also anyone know what the factory numbers for a 98 Civic DX motor are?

Thanks

you could put the 98 motor in but you would have to swap some sensors and the manifolds. it won't have anymore power than your current engine, though. for this reason i would go with the free motor.

if your going to do a mpfi swap, i would probably go with the 98 motor. it wouldn't make much more power, but i love the powerband of those engines ( i have one in my car).

yeah, it'll bolt in, you have to transfer over the mount bracketby the timing belt, and it'll bolt up to your tranny. if you ran that, you'd want to switch to mpfi.

As far as motor swaps go, you really can't get much easier.

The Y7 does have more power than the wore out d15, the y7 has about what a 88-91 Si motor had in hp., plus it might have less wear and tear on it being somewhat newer.

The only thing need to be changed to install the motor are these.:::
You need::
old d15 IM,
old d15 Distributor
Take old mount off driver side of D15 block and put it on the D16y7 block.

Thats it.
