Vacuum lines on an 88 DX/ZC?
I've been looking at different diagrams and nothing seems to line up with my 88 DX to ZC setup. The most perplexing issue are the 2 lines on the back (heading out toward the firewall), which I haven't seen on any of the diagrams I've found. I've never delt with vacuum lines, can anyone point me in the right direction?
they only vacuum lines you need are 1 fuel pressure, 2 brake booster, and 3 map sensor. trash the rest if you are tired of staring at diagrams and there arent strict emmisions in your state. you dont need those purges, charcoal canisters or anything else

yah, but the environment does.
keep them on there. it won't hurt your performance, and it's not hard to hook up.
you can cap off the 2 vacuum ports on the back, then run them as shown here. my ZC was also from an auto, but only had one vacuum port on the back. i ran mine according to this diagram.
i would actually recommend an engine from an auto, because chances are it was never driven too hard.

i find it hard to believe that after 14-16 years the charcoal can is still performing the way it should be. Since the removal of mine and all the purges there is no gas smell or anything like that and I dont think it makes a difference off or on. Even if there was a gas "smell" how is that affecting the environement? Dont we use 100 million barrels of gasoline each day?

whatever you say, Dr. Science.
i don't know if age effects the charcoal canister itself, but the purge cut pulls the fumes from the canister and sends them into the engine to burn them off. the "smell" is actual gasoline entering the environment. it's not just a smell, it's fumes.
