This is by far the one thing on earth that I would love to destroy.

These are the bitches that couldn't get the job done.

If you can't tell that's a 3/8", 1/2", and 3/4" impacts. A breaker bar, chain wrench, various pentrating oils and sprays, and a propane torch. Yeah none of them got that crank pulley bolt out. If I had the 2250 for a new engine on hand that crank bolt would be in pieces. Can't forget about the breaker bar's ***** friend.... The 3 foot cheater bar.

As you can tell the cheater bar got bitch slapped by the crank bolt too. The engine was shifting in the mounts while I jumped on this bar and the 3/4" impact made the engine shift too. Still the bolt prevails. Anyways, I said screw the bolt and just loosened the timing belt tensioner and removed the belt off the cam gear and straped it out of the way w/ a bungee cord. As seen here.

Awww finally, I get some much needed HEAD !!!!!.

And here looks to be the culprit in the blown head gasket. As you can see on piston #2 it smoked the gasket. Aw the power of a Honda D-series.

And here is block. Anybody know a good way to get the carbon off the top of the piston's and out of the cylinder? So here is the block.

So hopefully I will have this put back together sometime this weekend or this next week and you all will see the silver HX cruising once again. Thanks to Marcus, Chad, my Pops, and all the Honda-Tech members that helped me out w/ this. BTW this was my first head gasket install.

well, when I have to replace the water pump and timing belt I'll try that. But, since I just had it done last year I'm hoping that I won't have to worry about it till I get my B series.
What type of compressor are you using? Also are you sure you were doing lefty loosy, righty tighty? Because that 3/4 impact shouldnt have to think twice of knocking that bolt off.

A trick that works for me most of the time is to put the gun in forward hit it a couple of times then reverse and let it beat the **** out of the bolt, repeat as nessecary.
Hey if u want a header, I have a SS 4-1 with no dents i'll be selling shortly.ive had it for about a year..I know this has nothing to do with this thread but i saw ur factory exhaust mani and thought of it
I used to dred doing any work that involved crank pulley removal... untill i made this little tool... ive made alot of friends with this tool. haha.

put it in the hex type crank pulley, insert deep 17mm into tool hole, and break it loose with a 4 foot cheater. makes it a walk in the park.

thats a little ghetto - but gets the job done. I bought this...

...from snapon, it was like $35 or something. Makes removing the crank pulley an easy job.
You can buy one on amazon.com for $24....

I had a way worse time with mine. I did everything and was even jumping on a 5 foot breaker bar, I weigh 235lbs too.
Then hitting it with a 500ft-lbs air gun with a 150PSI machine backing me = nothing
Finally, I got smart and rented an acetylene torch and had to hold it there for a timed 13minutes!!! Then hit the bolt with the gun while it was 2000 degrees and she finally broke loose!!
Good Luck and HEAT is by far your best friend.

The large part of the tool fits into the crank pulley opening, with one breaker bar you can hold the crank pulley in place. Then you can use another breaker bar with a 17mm socket to break the nut free.
Sometimes it takes two people - but its still really easy to do. Air normally isnt strong enough.

yea heres the tool i made too cost me a whole $2 compared to the $65 snap on one it does the same job
but i broke some tools trying get that bitch off. the large nut can be found at orchard supply hardware and it fits perfectly.

i do most of mine by hand with a 3' breaker bar and a cheater bar and a chain wrench or the crank tool or a flywheel locking tool
btw snap-on sells a 5 1/2 foot breaker bar 3/4 drive
