Default What is this and where does...

I need to know what function this part has (4392)and should it be attached to a vacume source(hose coming out of bottom)??? I just got my car back from the shop after having a d16z6 installed and am curious as to why the hose in the pic is not hooked up to anything. The car starts and runs but is running extremly rich. Any input is greatly appreaciated.[IMG][/IMG]

What intake manifold are you using? What Throttle body are you using? It all matters.

It's trash. That's what it is.
Taking it off will not throw you any codes, nor will it in any form or manner alter the mixture.

Yank it out.

If he is running on a6 manifold rather then the z6 manifold they have different vacuum ports and the map sensor is hooked up different.

I KNOW I JUST DID MINE. What intake manifold are you running?

it look slike the vaccumline that goes onto a plug to teh right of that unit that holds the MAP sensor. You should see a "bar" sticking out towards that hose.

Yeah, I guess I should have stated those pages are from the crx manual. I don't have anything on OBD1.

Does not matter.
It's not a MAP sensor. And on OBD1 the MAP sensors are located directly onto the manifold/throttlebody.

It's useless environmental crap, used to be hooked up to the charcoal canister.

Not always. I've seen 5th gens in the junkyard with firewall mounted map sensors.

The fpr, pcv, map, and booster need vacuum. Cap off any unused ports and remove anything that's not needed.

I'm using the z6 manifold with the map sensor on the throttlebody.

You should be able to cancel out the map sensor and the purge solenoid then. you just plug the map sensor the from the Firewall to the Throttle body, and leave the purge solenoid connector hanging. I did this and my car is running good. The vacuum lines weren't needed with mine. I'll try to get some pics.

I don't know what year model you have but just look at some one elses. I would post a pick of mine but I'm deployed right now. I'm sure it's common on stock CRXs. Or just call your mechanic and be like WTF, there's a hose hanging. It obviously didn't come that way so someone must have put it there.

^^ Did you just put a block plate over the TB map sensor?

Well if you go that route it should be okay. If not, you can cancel out all that ****. I'll go and get a picture right now of it.
