Default Grinding pi$$ing me off

Yeah whenever i go to about 3k or over and i need to go from 2nd to 3rd or and gear into 3rd it grinds and the higher the RPM the louder and harder it grinds can anyone gimmie some tips on what it might be? If it is my syncro would i have to get a whole new tranny? Thanks in advance

Sounds like it could be your syncro if only in that gear. Make sure you are clutching all the way in.

If it is the syncro you can have it rebuilt with a new 3rd and 4th, I believe they come in pairs.

a tranny fluid change wouldn't hurt to do especially since you're noticing these symptoms. gm syncromesh works really really well, but that's only the friction modified stuff. HOnda MTF would help too.

Isn't the 3rd gear syncro the one that always tends to go out first in Hondas? (rubs goat hairs on chin....)

You should get that fixed before it leads to the requirement of you purchasing a transmission and/or clutch/flywheel.

I have that same problem too. It will grind over 1500rpm from 2nd to 3rd. Would it be cheaper to buy a new tranny or have it fix.
