Default DC5 Bang for Buck

Would a used type-s be considered the best bang for the buck on the market right now? or is there another car on the market which is more reliable and fast?

I say if you are looking for just performance then and RSX is not the best Bang for your buck.

But for all around car then the RSX-S will fit that category, I also think the Celica GT-S is also a great deal.

unfortunately, i agree. for the used price, the car is hard to beat.

i dont know anyone who's had an srt-4 for more than a couple years though. in fact, all i hear is problems, but damn are they quick.

rsx-s is def a good platform, but note that parts arent that cheap, and you'd have to do some serious mods (i/h/e/hondata reflash or kpro/etc) on a used S to even keep up with a stock srt-4.

yeah but one is boosted, so thats rediculous. of course itll be faster. but ones a honda and you dont have to worry about reliability as long as you are a decent owner. secondly the srt4's int. (minus the seats) are horendous. its like a ****** pt cruiser. that said, even the rsx seats are hotter and more comfortable then the srt4 seats. and the fact will always always remain,........ its a neon. 'nuff said.

for this website, its assumed that the car will be modded. so the rsx boosted will be fast. with good tuning 10lbs of boost (which the k20 block can handle easily) will yield 280-300 wheel horsepower with a half decent setup. you will be able to contend with even turbo upgraded srt's with a decent turbo set up.

also, for people like me that like coupes and hatches, a 4 door isnt gonna cut it. i dont like dragging car behind me. i like knowing that the rear of the car is directly to my rear. all mods aside and when you strip it down, id rather be driving an integra than a neon any day.

I think a used gsr is a good bang-for buck option as well. The theft is bad but with the way things are looking the rsx-s will inherit the same problem soon enough

or the 00 si

Best bang for the buck...VW GTI 1.8t

You can get one for about $19500 and the fit and finish is remarkable...not to mention the are the original hot hatch...

rsx-s is cheaper and has more power out the box. The vw might make more power with bolt-ons though

I wouldn't count those eggs until they've hatched....honda/acura is notorious for putting really nic eparts on the concept/ demo car and then downgrading by the time the car actually comes to market....if i'm not mistaken didn't the RSX concept car have brembos, lsd, recaro.....basically what the type-r is...and we didn't get it.....so if you are banking on it, don't..... i'd like them to prove me wrong though.

Actually 21990 with tax, title and registration, thats how much i got mine for. It came with power everything except seats. Leather interior, heated seats, 180HP, stock turbo, air bags everywhere. I just got chipped and am making 204 HP to the wheels and 241 TQ. Not bad for a $500 mod

A type-s is cheaper than a 1.8t? I thought they started t 24k? I got my 1.8t for 19.5k...signed, sealed, delivered! It was the last 03 on the lot.

it may have more power, but the GTI definitely has more torque...172 lbs. @1950 -5500 rpms. That will push you back into your seat. The only reasons I traded mine in for a civic with a d17 are the speeding tickets and premiun gas.

I will admit that the rsx is much more nimble than the GTI, but I think you can a lot more with a gti for less.

But regardless of the facts, I now drive an '05 civic 5 speed...no land speed records there!

If you read the first thread the guy is talking about used cars. When I made that statement I was considering used car prices.

Well... a Used GTI is cheaper then a Type-S. Frankly the RSX has horribly high resale value compared to other cars. You can nab a 2002 WRX easy for around 15k, however Type-S seems to loom around 18k. WRX is a much better preformance car, new and used. GTI, while most likely it will give you problems, has a much higher "luxury/quality" feel to them. Whatever floats your boat really. RSX is really toward the bottom of the "bang-for-the-buck" barrel.

Cobolt SS, Saturn Redline, SRT-4, WRX, Evo RS, GTI, A3.. cheaper or close to a Type-S price while all being far more powerful. (obviously if we're talkign about preformance, style and build quality go out the window).

Also lets not even bring up the RSX base, which is easily eclipsed.

A used S2k around $18000-19000 is the best bang for the buck..

it'll own RSX-S,SRT-4,VW whatever..

SRT-4 is probably the best bang for your buck.. but it... we all know the problems the original Dodge Neons had... I love the SRT-4... but don't Quite trust it yet. If you want proven reliability and good performance I say go with the RSX....
