Ok, this is frustrating...You buy a car, it runs awesome, appears to be in great shape, runs right where its supposed to be, doesn't overheat, doesn't hesitate under acceleration...In other words, you think the car is in great shape...:sigh:

Well the car itself is in great shape, but 2days after I got it, I started having problems.

It started puking antifreeze after I shut the car off, I couldn't find where it was coming from, the next day it stopped. I drove the car probably 800 miles and EXACTLY a week later (Yesterday) I was driving to Sprint to go get a new cell phone. I get about a mile from my house and notice that the temperature is going up.

I turn around and come straight home, by the time I get home the car is on the brink of overheating, not good.

I pull it in the garage, shut it off, and sure enough, whats it doing? Puking antifreeze again. So I jack it up, tear the intake out and spend a good deal of time looking for this damn leak, with no available luck.

So I say screw it for the night, park the car, and a little while ago today, I figured I would go take a short drive and see what happens.

I went for a VERY short drive, less than 1 mile, just around the block of my neighborhood. By the time I get home, the temp gauge in the red and I can hear the sizzle.

Pull in the garage, pop the hood, listen for the sizzle (leak) and try to find it...Nope, still can't find it!!!

Also I noticed the electric fans didn't turn on until I had shut the car off, which isn't right either...

Help!!! I've had the car a week and I'm ready to throw it in the damn dumpster.

91 Prelude Si 2.1 5spd

Only does it while driving, I can sit there and have it run in my garage all day and it'll stay perfectly cool, and won't puke anything when I turn it off...

It only happens while/after driving it...I've always done my own wrenching on cars, but I'm about to the point where I'm just gonna drop it off at a shop and say "have at it"

It sounds like you might have a pocket of air that also causes the pressure to build up.

Check your bleeder screw and the upper/lower rad hoses for leaks.

Double check the heater hoses for leaks on the back of the block.

You may want to change your rad cap and bleed the system too.. good luck finding the issue.

edit::

maybe wire a fan switch and leave it running while you drive around.. see if that helps. also jack the front end and leave it running while you bleed it.

Oh as for where its leaking...It's on the back of the motor, it leaks down onto the exhaust (downpipe)...Yesterday when I was under the car, there was a drop of antifreeze, on the rear motor mount, and the front sway bar as well.

But it seems to be coming from the general area between the exhaust and the intake manifold...But I really can't see up in there very well.

DO NOT let the temp guage get that high anymore. You are KILLING the motor, and quite possibly the headgasket.

I hope it isn't the headgasket. It could be leaking from the back of the head.

Me too At least if it is the headgasket, it looks like it would be pretty easy to change on these cars.

Believe me, I didn't want the temp to get that high, it just shot up REALLY quick, I mean I drove like half a block and thats all it took!
