88 D16a6 Timing Belt Question
I was just poking around my engine bay. I saw the slot on the timing belt cover and i took a peek inside.
With the engine running i looked at it again and seen the belt moving (as it should) but I also noticed it looked to be wobbling.. is this normal to have a slight wobble on the belt?
when i revved it the slack went away but when i let off it was even more slacked then tightened up again..
I'll try to get a video of it...
thoughts?

my old d15b2 with 200 some thousand miles had a broken tensioner, so it had like an INCH of freeplay on the belt. you could make it jump a tooth by hand with the cover off, but driving i kept the cover on, and try as i might, i couldn't get it to jump a tooth, because the cover didn't give it enough clearance. (while trying to get it to jump, i even bounced it off the rev limiter sometimes)
but, still, if it's a motor you care about, replace the belt and tensioner.
i just wanted to see some carnage with that motor, i wanted to kill it before i put my d16a6 in, but it never died. the tranny developed a leak and started to make scary noises, so i swapped it out.
on my d16a6, it had a timing belt replacement about 20k ago, and the belt is nice and tight.
