Default head gasket

compression gains if i use a metal y8 gasket on a z6. reading different post i figured out you can remove the middle layer of the y8 gasket to raise comp. with the middle layer removed what gains in comp. can i expect.

Default Re: head gasket (1gEF-8)

if i remember correctly its .2 compression raise for every .001 removed.

the middle gasket is .001 i believe.

be very careful removing the rivits...don't bend or kink the gasket.

when removing the middle gasket remember to use copper spray. it helps make a better seal when you reapply the gasket... and if the gasket is not completly straight it will help fill in uneven surfaces.
