how to identify a ys1/s1/j1 tranny?

there is a guy selling me a ls trany,but in the trans.says s1 + diferent numbers.he want 300.00

so whats the problem? sounds like the USDM LS tranny. i think its 90-91 cant remember might be the 92-93 LS.

but i heard the s1 cable tranny only came in the 92-93 gsr b17 engine

the 92/93 gsr tranny is a ys1. and the shiet used goes for like $500 and they arent easy to find.

some usdm ls trannies are S1 and some are YS1. so far only way to tell if its usdm or jdm is drive it or open it up. cant someone figure out the serial numbers?
