Default Wanna race your Civic EX or SI...

...but are disappointed the the Sports Car Club of America has decided that it should run in ITS with the E36 BMW? You aren't alone, given the dozens of showroom stock Neons, Nissans and others that are sitting idle. Not to mention all of the other makes and models that perpective racers knew would end up in ITS, little thanks for their going to the effort of requesting classification.

Take a look at the IT2 Initiative, started in an effort to give the most affordable enthusiast cars in the USA a place to race. Visit http://www.2litre.itgo.com/ for more information.

This idea is not affiliated with the SCCA or any of its regions, and is specifically intended to compliment other series (like ECHC) by providing additional venues to improve your skills and go racing, under aligning rules.

We would love your feedback!

Kirk

I would be interested. It might be nice to be able to run the car @ some other events other than NASA.

Not that crazy. Min. weight limits can play a lot of equalizing. Check out SSB, where Miatas are untouchable, and GS-R's are trying to claim 6th place...
Granted, not a Type R, but still.

Racing together - Yes.
Racing against each other - No.

Just because they share the track doesn't mean they are competing.
An ITA Miata would compete with an ITA CRX. But Spec Miata is a class on it's own. Not sure where the ITR falls, but it is probably one class faster than the CRX in IT trim (PS in NASA).

What CM said. They would share the same race session, not race in the same class. Type R would be in USTCC/Pro Compact, Miata would be Spec Miata & the CRX would be in Pro Sedan. In enduro, the Miata & CRX would both be in E2. I believe the Type R would be in E0.

More information has been added to http://www.2litre.itgo.com for those interested, including a preliminary list of eligible cars and a description of the Jump Start plan, to promote interest in this initiative.

This feature will allow drivers of eligible cars to earn IT2 points within their regular NASA or SCCA race schedule. All you would need to do is arrange for a Regional Administrator in your organization (or volunteer yourself!) and register for the championship - no licence requirement, no entry fees and no additional expenses.

All we want to do is spread the word about the potential of these cars. Please get in touch if you are interested or visit the site above and scroll down to "Getting Started". I will also be at the VIR event on the 16th, helping out in or near the tower, if you want to chat in person.

That website was great until it popped that stupid casino box. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Don't think it is the websites (page's) fault. It is the price you pay for free web hosting.

Uh, yeah. I am REALLY sorry that I have to subject you to Freeservers' pop-up hell but this project is going to outlive my access to the web server that I have been using at the university - I hope. Since this whole thing is being done on the cheap, I don't have any other option right now - unless someone out there in the IT field can set us up with hosting or has leftover Linux box that I can install in the basement!

Thanks again for your interest...

You can change that to an inline ad instead of a popup. (or at least you could in the past) It's a simple directive. Check their support pages for the right syntax, but it's kinda like:

<!--nopopup-->

just get pop-up stopper something...

as for the car thing

ITR - FWD compact coupe (sedan based)
CRX - FWD sports car
Miata - RWD sports car/convertible

IMO, these are three different cars. I don't understand how different cars can in the same class. I can understand "similar" cars ( i.e. Miata & MR-S ). But different cars in the same class? oh well....i guess that's why I'm not involved with the idiosyncrasies of sanctioned racing bodies.
