Default Trouble with the pin switch I think...

I got my alarm installed a while back. When armed, it goes off when the passenger door is opened. However, when the driver side door is opened it doesnt go off.

Granted the shock sensor cues the alarm if a theif were to close the door, but im
kinda pissed off that the whole system doesnt work due to something from the car not working.

I believe the "pin switch" is to blame. If that name doesnt ring a bell its the L-shaped tab in the door frame.

When I open the passenger door the dome light (haha...ef dome light) turns on like it should. But like the alarm, the dome light doesnt go on when I open the driver door.

Now whats confusing me is that when the driver door is open, the "door open" light on my cluster is on, but shuts off when the door is shut.

Isnt the pin switch the only thing that tells the car when the door is opened or closed???

I want to fix this tiny annoyanc but dont know if replacing the pin switch is the thing to do. All input is appreciated.

When I put my alarm in, i had the same problem. I just grabbed the wire in the a-pillar and used that for door trigger. I also ran a wire from my trunk light for the hatch.

Now that I put my gsr cluster in, i realized I could have grabbed all my wires at the cluster...

there are two sensors in the cars with door mounted belts, one in the door, and that other one for the dome light. just take apart and clean the one for the dome light. it's probably rusted

i just had the problem on my 1990 CRX just last weekend when getting an alarm installed. Both my pin switches were not working properly. Rather than screw around with the old ones, i spent a whole $11 for both brand new at Honda. Its worth it, they work perfect!
