Default Idle Surging When A/C Is Turned On

My brother had a new A/C compressor put on today and now when you turn it on, the idle goes up and down. You turn off the A/C and it stops right away. I searched and it looks like people are saying bleeding the coolent may help?

How much does it fluctuate? Every car I've been in, Honda or not, does this. Drop and raises a couple hundred RPM.

No, it sounds like someone is pumping the gas. I wasn't in the car to see the actual RPM's, but it's very loud, not normal at all. Also, his air is still blowing out hot. The guys at the shop who looked at it said they think the ECU in the car is bad, the part that goes to the A/C System. That sounds like the stupidest thing I've ever heard, haha. But I have no idea. They claim it had worked for them off and on, but we've yet to have cold A/C. I guess we'll have to continue to mess with it this week. We're both stumped.

Where would this air conditioning idle control solenoid valve be located?

actualy, it does. I have the Helm's manual for 96-2000 civic in front of me and it lists 2 diffenent schematics for those years. also, earlier eg civic might use a different system.

anyway, does the condensor fan turn on at all? you might have a look at the compressor clutch relay and the condensor fan relay. Both get their signals from the ecu, so the garage guys might be right. relays are located in the fuse box under the hood.

check to see if the condensor fan comes on when the compressor engages.
