Default speedometer help please!!

Hi, I’m from Portugal and I’ve got a problem that I hope you guys can solve it. By the way, sorry if my english sucks...
Here in my hometown no one can’t change my speed dials for a new set of white dials. They are all afraid to screw everything because only the speedometer is mechanic, all the rest is electric and they don’t know if it will work fine after the change.
I’ve seen a lot of pictures in this site of Hondas with white dials and I wonder how you’ve managed to put it right. There must be a way, right? How do I know that, for example, the fuel indicator is correct after the change? This question is for all the other indicators.
Oh yeah, I’ve tried to change the original set by my self and all I got was two broken “pointers”(I don’t know how you say there) and the revs dial all crazy, which cost me a complete set from the junk yard, not a pleasant surprise for my wallet. Any help is most welcome. Sorry for being too long. Thanks a lot.

if this is for an EF the speedo and tach needles come off and the faces are screwed on. I would not do the temp and gas gauge those needles will break. When you buy a kit it usually comes with a needle removing tool

When you replace the gauge faces you have to be very precise when you remove & replace the needles.
You must bring the car up to operating temp, then mark the placement of the temp & gas needles (draw a pic or whatever), THEN remove them.
After your new faces are on, plug the cluster back in, warm the car back up to operating temp, then carefully push the needles back on. It takes trial & error, but don't just wing it and hope for the best.

more than likely you are buying the gauge face overlays.... flimsy plastic kinda see through... not like the Hard plasic ones from the facotry.

all you have to do is unscrew the 2 screws on the guage face...

then slip the new guage faces over the needles... you DO NOT have to take the needles : Pointers : off to install them. you also DO NOT take the original guage faces off... they stay on. the new guage faces are overlays thats how they work. the go on top of your original guage face...the lights and everything will glow through the new guage faces.

take off the two screws holding the guage face in place ...then slide the new guage face over the needle... look at the guage... the hole in the middle of the guage face will slide over the needle.... you have to bend the guage face alittle to go over it...then press softly on the guage when you get it to the end of the needle...then reinstall the screws and your done. do the same for the other guages.

this is very simple to do.

^ He's right, if it's possible to slip them over the needles. Mine wouldn't fit without slicing them and I didn't want to do that.....
