Default GSR Intake Manifold questions (Skunk2, Edelbrock?)

Hey guys and gals,

I was wondering if there's any benefit from buying an aftermarket IM such as the Skunk2 or the Edlebrock units. Most of the guys i know who have this did a lot of other things at the same time so they can't tell me if there was any gains to be had.

My other question is, would there be any point in removing my secondaries on the stock manifold for now? if so, anyone know a good link to do it and is there any CEL's that pop up afterwards?

Thanks for any help or experience you can give on this topic!!

the most benfit of the skunk2's IM is that the intake runners are shorter and straight, allowing slightly faster air induction

actually skunk2s intake runners are longer, which helps in reversion and making a ram air effect. you will gain slight hp by adding a skunk intake mani but not as much as if u were to throw in cams because u still can only suck in the same amount of air with the stocker cuz the stock cam only opens so far.

as far as the edelbrock goes, i would only use it if i was forced induction because ive seen dynos of people with that IM on their N/a car and they LOST hp. dont get me wrong, edelbrock makes a good manifold, its just only for F/I. runners are too short for N/a

awesome feedback guys!

i was comparing the 2 and it looked like the Edelbrock unit has a much larger plenum with longer runners as well (reason for power loss perhaps?)?

I'm running the P72 ECU rite now and am debating between which cams to get (toda b/c, jun 3, skunk2 stg2?) so i was hoping that an aftermarket IM would help a bit (other than going ITB's)...now i'm not so sure if it's worth the price.

anyone else with feedback on any of these 2 units? thanks again guys, much appreciated!
