Default Automatic and Manual P06 ECU's, differences???

Any major differences between the manual and the automatic P06 ECU's? Will putting the automatic in a manual civic cause any drivability issues?

Yes they are slightly different, Theres a how to on this somewhere propably in the stickie but if you put the auto into a manual car it wont let you start it because its waiting for an input from the neatrul safty switch which you no longer have. The clutch switch dosent do the same thing it just cuts out the starter wire if its not pressed so it dosent goto the ecu. Also theres something with a shift interlock solinoid thats no longer needed. You can use it in a manual car you just have to jump a few pins nothing major.

I've heard you can run an auto ECU with a manual tranny. I plugged my manual ECU into my auto car (I'm swapping trannies soon) and I didn't get any CELs. It may be different if it was the other way around though..

I believe you have to trick your car into always thinking its in neutral.

Trick your car for what reason?

This is taken from the ecu stickie about 4-5 posts down, because I know no body is going to look.

This is how to covert a Auto Ecu to Manual.

take a look at the following jumpers in the lower right hand corners of the ECU,
RP17 and RP18 values:
Auto to Manual:
remove RP17 and RP18
replace RP18 with a jumper wire

This is my 1100 post WOO HOO!

are you putting in an auto tranny of just the ECU. if its just the ECU you will get a cel i ran an auto ECU in my standard and got a cel, saftey nuetral switch, changed it like in the picture above and it worked fine. search around alittle and you can find all the other info you need.

I installed the auto ECU in my car, and you were right...it runs fine. But it did throw a code. I haven't taken the time to find it out yet, but I'm guessing it's the safety/neutral switch like you said.
