Just becuase one person got a low APR doesnt mean you'll get the same...it isnt just based on what the dealership is offering at the time, or what Honda of America is running specials on, it has to do with your credit history, income, blah blah blah...one person could get a 3.9% interest rate, where you could potentially get better (if they offer it and you qualify) or higher if you dont qualify...
Bleh, I should have mentioned that my mommy is co-signing for me so I can use her credit--which is really good.... Im specifically asking for special apr rates because I can get the best of which they are offering. Just like this past memorial weekend, Honda here was offering 1.9% OAC--but I found out about it the day after it ended.
A Co-Signed loan may not qualify for the lowest interest rate either, many times they will offer something along the lines of a "First Time Buyer" program, which is a decent interest rate, but not the greatest...unfortunately (and i have a family member in banking, so i've learned alot of the insides of it), they EXPECT you to fail, thus getting a little money out of you and also, possibly getting the car back which they can resale...and the worst case for them is they'll make their interest off you...and for first time buyers, its sometimes as bad as having BAD credit, even with a co-signer (people with poor credit can also have a co-signer) they usually will NOT offer the lowest APR.
If your mom were to finance the car under her name ONLY, then you could probobly get the lowest APR if her credit is that good...but co-signing takes her credit, and then takes a portion of yours...(usually just a new comer low becon) and gives you a rounded up average (which is usually about what someone with mediocre credit score would get).
Think it over...and do as was mentioned above and talk to a credit union, we actually got a MUCH better APR from AHFC than we did from our credit union, but only after telling them that we had such and such APR through our credit union...they dropped it from 4.XX% to like 3.2% (if i remember correctly).

Usually a credit union would be your best bet. I went through my bank to finance my S2K and I eneded up finding out that my credit union offered a lower APR. If AHFC gives you anything under 6%, I would be suprised.
Haha thanks dudes--lot of info....
I should tell you though--all the co-signing, blah blah--EVERYTHING has been taken care of already. The only thing I needed to know was pretty much what I could expect for the lowest for the holiday weekend. All the paperwork is done, just waiting to fill in the apr blank.... Our credit and everything is in order and we're pretty much guaranteed that if there is a low apr special, we will get it.
Memorial Day, it was 1.9%--So I was just wondering if thats something they did often... And if not, what the typical holiday special was....

beb, i can walk into the local dealership and request 1.9% they can push it through if needed. the only one you can't ask for is 0% which is what my dad's accord is on. they only seem to do that once or twice a yr. 1.9% is doable as long as your credit is approved

That was for everything BUT S2000s. That's when I got mine. They wouldn't even touch my credit union rate of 4.75%.
It's possible for an indivdual dealer to do better but, I haven't seen any Honda-wide promotions. Also the 1.9-3.6% promos are usually for a 36 month term only...

Isn't that so stupid, 0% financing on everything (Excludes anything you'd actually want).. Dodge did it with the Viper, Chevy with the Vette, Nissan with the 350z, and of course Honda and the s2k. Vehicle discrimination should be illegal

They just do what they have to to sell cars. In demand cars sell without financial incentives.
For anyone in NorCal buying a new S2000, I can put you in touch with a dealer selling at around $29,600(including destination fee)...Black goes for less...

Well, if the dealership we're planning to go to has the NFR in stock--they'll guarantee it... My dad is a broker, he's sold alot of cars for this dealership. So that + our credit means that the dealer will hook us up with whatever special American Honda has... So Im just crossing my fingers and waiting...
And Im 20, I already have enough bills as it is-- thats why Im so curious what kind of specials people have gotten... I dont want to pay for an expensive car AND expensive apr.
And if there is a special and I get the car Saturday, Ill definately let you know how much I get the apr for. Im already buying the car itself (including destination) for $950 below invoice.
