Just bought a d16y7 with 43,000 miles to through in my hatch, wondering if anyone else has a y7 in there hatch and how well they like it? any feed back would be great!

 

I'm putting together a new daily driver with a D16y7.
Besides the intake manifold, its similar to a D16a6.

 

yeah, the intake manifold sucks! i put the intake off of my y8 on it, but the fan switch is holding me up.. what do i do about the fan switch? on the y7 its on the termostat housing and on my old motor its on the back of the block by the oil psi. you cant just make the wires longer to reach the termostat because the plugs are way differnt so how do i fix this problem? i was told not to worry about it and to just hot wire the fan but that dont seem like the right way to do it and i'd like to fix it the right way. if anyone has any other ways i could fix this plz let me know! again any feed back would be great, thanks guys

 

This problem is the usual problem with Y7 swaps. Please search. there are a bunch of threads on that.

 

ok, so i searched and dont really know what i got out of it.. should i get the plug that fits the fan switch on the termostat housing and splice the two wires coming from the back of the block to it? or am i way wrong? plz help!
