Default Electrical Help ... Help!

I have a 99 Honda Accord V6 EX. I am finding that when I set the alarm by double clicking the key fob lock button twice or when I beep the horn, I am shorting out the rear lights. After that point, the car will not shift out of park since the "shift lock" thinks that the break is not on due to the rear lights not working. I then replace the fuse for the rear lights and everything is okay again until I beep the horn or set the alarm using the key fob (which is suppose to beep the horn to let you know the alarm is set).

Any ideas on how I can skin this problem? How do I narrow down the problem to a short or other fuse/relay? Thanks for any help!

Excellent reply! I had replaced one of the horns a couple of years ago so now I am concerned that something is blowing out the horn.

I disconnected both horns and now the fuses are no longer blowing out when i activate the alarm or press on the horn. Does this mean that the horn components are the problem or is it possible that I will replace these, connect them back up, and still have the same problem?

After I hear back, my plan will be to replace them but I want to check on whether we have ruled out a short somewhere between the horn through the process of disconnecting the horn.

Thank you

yes the horn ( s) is ( are ) the problem you might want to hook them up 1 at a time to see which 1 blows fuse you only might need 1 horn ...and it is unlikely that you have a short somewhere also cause fuse in not blowing once horns disconnected
